Our artefact does meet the design
brief and the evaluation criteria. Only that in the testing of our design we
got a score of 4/10. And while the testing is going on we’ve observed the flaws
and correct aspects on our artefact. One thing we have observed is that it
depends on one thing for it to sort accurately. And that is the rate of pouring
the balls into the sorter. If it is poured all at once, one marble is mixed
with the pingpong balls. Though there are circumstances that even though put
fast it sorts efficiently. We found out that the solution to our problem is by
pouring the balls slowly or one by one. Because if the rate of a marble/ marbles
is fast, it will not go under the track we made where they should go to
separate from the pingpong balls. Also while testing, our friends, Rolly and
Matthew told us that maybe if we made the holes or spaces of our track
smaller/thinner, it would’ve sorted better.
For
us the best feature of the sorter is the sorting mechanism /the tracks. It is
the cream of the crop. It’s the sorter in the first place, it wouldn’t be a
ball sorter without it. And also because it’s done neatly and unexpectedly
sorts the balls smoothly.
The
least satisfactory feature will be the entrance of the balls located on the
roof. It is too small and pouring will be quite difficult. We actually planned
to have a some type of vent instead of just a hole but our time was cut short.
So that is the feature that could’ve been much improved. Also the tubes after
the track, it was just done quickly so we think it could’ve been done more
nicely.
But overall, the sorter is quite
satisfying. Not purely satisfying because it kind of disappoints us that it
still depends on a thing for it to sort accurately. But besides that we are
proud of our design. It is neat, clean and even has wheels which makes it easy
to transfer and is also lightweight so it’s really portable. So JilaNd
Incorporated is happy with the finished product.
